Nonbinary Top-Surgery

Info & Exchange Event

Our idea is to facilitate a space to talk about nonbinary top surgeries like chest reduction or augmentation, or however you define it, with people who are interested in doing it and people who have already done it.

If you are, like us, tired of navigating a medical and bureaucratic system that is focused on binary surgeries, and would like to exchange about nonbinary top surgery possibilities, or if you already had surgery and would like to share your experience, we invite you to this info & exchange event.

With nonbinary top surgery we refer to a body modification procedure to increase or reduce chests. For us, this modification doesn’t necessarily need to align with the cis-heteronormative vision of what men’s and women’s torso should look like.

We want to explicitly invite also people who can imagine/are thinking about having more than one top surgery. In general, we want to challenge the so called “usual” binary ways of looking at surgeries or medical transitions in just one linear and binary way. Instead, we want to focus on how we could feel more comfortable with our bodies, dysphoric feelings if we have them, and nonbinary stories.

How to navigate a medical and bureaucratic system that is focused on binary surgeries as a nonbinary person? The medical systems is organized around a binary understanding of transness defined in binary terms, so we are curious to find out how we can talk about different kinds of procedures in a nonbinary way. The insurance systems have been failing to address the needs of nonbinary people. We will be providing practical and bureaucratic information that has helped us navigate through this binary system and get what we need.
